Richmondshire Green Party Latest News

27 March 2024

We are busy campaigning to get Kevin Foster, our Green candidate elected as Mayor of York and North Yorkshire. We have an update on the campaign, feedback from this month's Branch meeting and news on two different approaches to alternative energy in the North, plus local news.

However, before we get to that the opportunity to vote Green in the Mayoral election requires a deposit of £5000

PLEASE WILL YOU CONSIDER DONATING TO THE CROWDFUNDING APPEAL  TO HELP FUND THE GREEN PARTY MAYORAL CAMPAIGN FOR YORK AND NORTH YORKSHIRE?

The appeal has raised just over £1400 so far which is nearly a third of the way to the £5,000 target.

If you have any questions regarding this please contact our membership engagement officer Jenny Boulds via email

✅Action Day in Colburn ✅

It was a cold, wet day but we enjoyed delivering leaflets, knocking on doors and meeting fellow Greens. Many thanks to branch members, Alison, Linda, Rupert, Suzzanne and Zanne who came along and made it a success.

"The chance to meet face to face and network was, for me, the best aspect of the event." (Anna, Coordinator)

It was also a good start in our campaign to get Kevin elected as Mayor. He got off to a flying start with 46 people signing his nomination form for the mayoral election!

There is a lot more to do. Please come and join us:

  • at the next Action Day at The Reubens, DL7 9AY in Leeming Bar from 11.00am on 6th April, or
  • delivering the rest of the Colburn leaflets.
  • If you can help with the Colburn leaflets please contact Anna at coordinator@richmondnyorks.greenparty.org.uk

Elect a Green Mayor

Kevin has hit the ground running, travelling around North Yorkshire and York to listen to residents and tell them what his priorities will be as Mayor. If you follow our Facebook page you will have seen him out campaigning: York, where the local Green Party branch committed to funding and delivering 20,000 leaflets; up in the Dales; at the coast in Scarborough; and at the Action Day in Colburn where 46 people signed nominations for him.

In the next few weeks Kevin's campaign diary includes events in Harrogate, Skipton, Aiskew near Bedale, Whitby and York.

The Harrogate Informer is interviewing all the candidates. Watch Kevin's interview.
